Until today we were completely unaware that July has been declared Rum Month by Examiner.com. But, since we do love our rum, we’re willing to just roll with the punches and try to make the most of the 10 days we have left to celebrate. In honor of this momentous occasion, their site has been offering up more facts about rum than any functioning alcoholic could ever possibly need to know. Their rum primer offers a nice breakdown of the different classifications ranging from color, distillation method, added flavors, and (our personal favorite) marketing hype. Now that we’ve educated ourselves on some of the finer points of rum, we can’t help but feel like it’s time to squander this knowledge on some beach drinks.
