More Americans Brewing Their Coffee at Home

Coffee consumption has remained unchanged, but an increasing number of people have taken to making their coffee at home. Data from the 2009 National Coffee Drinking Trends survey reports a 5% increase over last year in the number of people brewing their own cup o’ joe. And, though the coffee industry seems to be recession proof, the gourmet coffee market has been hit with a 3% drop in consumption of espresso-based drinks. While it appears there’s a lot to be said for selling a highly addictive product, people will still do whatever they can to save a bit of extra money…as long as they’re getting their caffeine fix, of course.
