It’s not a rhetorical question, at least not now on Continental flights less than 6 hours (if you’re not in the esteemed First Class).

The lone stalwart of free food offerings among the struggling U.S. airline set, Continental, announced Monday that their complimentary meals will be discontinued to “reflect today’s market and customer preferences,” which we translated to mean, “we’re totally broke and this is just one more thing we’ll have to charge you for.”

While we mourn the casualty of yet another complimentary airline service, we’ll start hoarding the still-free pretzels and save them in case we get hungry on the next flight.
