Food Roundup for March 27

Here’s what’s being written about today in the world of food and dining news:

The new Carl’s Jr. ad featuring Top Chef co-host Padma Lakshmi is raising a few eyebrows for its over-the-top similarities to the (tastefully done) Paris Hilton ad from a while back. Houston Press’ “Eating Our Words” has dubbed it one of the Embarassing Moments In TV Cooking History, but we’ll let you be the judge.

Also, in legal news, Dallas-based Brinker International just lost a $270,000 court decision over the issue of tip pooling. A jury determined the company behind Chili’s and Macaroni Grill had been unfairly including some people in their tip pool and rewarded the 54 litigious employees accordingly.

In TV news, NBC’s The Chopping Block has already been canceled after a meager portion of just 3 episodes. The under performing cooking show will be replaced by reruns of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

And lastly, if you need a way to kill some time this weekend, we highly recommend CheetoCorn, a ridiculous 8-bit throwback to the original Nintendo games. Recently created by Cheetos, we assume it was made with the specific purpose of bringing joy to millions of people. Seriously, play it right now.
