Food Roundup for March 20

Here’s what’s being written about today in the world of food, drink, and dining news:

The 13-day Persian new year’s celebration began last night as Iranians all across the globe prepared for Nouruz. Since our world knowledge is (apparently) shamefully poor, this little tidbit was passed along from our friends at Fork in the Road who know considerably more than we do about cultural events.

Happy Nouruz!

Also, today is the Great American Meatout and you’re supposed to stop eating meat. This is the 25th anniversary of the meatout, and we’re thinking the best way to celebrate would be with some barbecue spare-ribs and a bacon explosion. However, we’re open to other suggestions.

And lastly, in head scratching alcohol news, Justin Timberlake is going to be releasing his own brand of tequila. It’s called 901, after the area code of his hometown and we can’t wait to get our hands on a bottle. We expect this sort of thing from Jay-Z, Sean “is it P-Diddy or just plain Diddy?” Combs, and even Donald Trump, but for some reason JT caught us a bit off guard with this one.
