Food Roundup for March 10
Here’s what’s going on today in the world of food and dining:
The Local, a pub in Minneapolis has sold more Jameson Whiskey than any other bar in the world. This is the third straight year The Local has been awarded with this distinction, and in 2008 the bar managed to empty approximately 22 bottles of Jameson on a daily basis.

They might not be moving the most cases of whiskey, but Hooters and other knock-off “breastaurants” are proving to be recession proof. The equation seems to be relatively simple: cheap food + pretty girls = constant stream of male patrons. It’s hard to believe more restaurants aren’t adapting to this model.
Nicki Wood defends Cheetos from any ignoramus who claims a generic brand could possibly compare. We’re completely with her on this one, as some things in life just can’t be compromised. Cheetos, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, and personal integrity all rank near the top of the list.
And lastly, on the alcohol front, this week’s Ask the Bartender is all about the cost of a cocktail. One reader wonders, “Is $9 too much?” Which causes anyone who’s used to spending that (or more) on a fairly straightforward drink to ponder, “Wait, are there still places that serve cheap drinks?”
