Here’s what is being written about today in the world of food and dining news:
It might not be timely, but it’s still an interesting little tidbit, and The Hot Dish has the story on the world’s longest hot dog. Sure it was made back in 2006, but so what? We want to talk about it now.

The Mexican ambassador to Spain is less than thrilled by new Burger King commercials which “improperly use the stereotyped image of a Mexican.” However, from watching the commercial we can only assume the ambassador has yet to sample the Texican Whopper. And, after all, “to understand it, you must try it.”
This week’s installment of Ask the Bartender centers around how to handle an uncomfortable situation with a server. Oddly enough, our typical strategy of running away in tears is not the recommended approach.
And lastly, in another episode of Cooking School Secrets we find out about the reasons for using Kosher salt and white pepper. Keep using table salt and black pepper if you want, but be aware that “real chefs” will mock you behind your back.
