Here’s what was being written about today in the world of food and dining news:

• Eating Our Words gets a boost from some caffeinated beef jerky. It would appear someone has finally engineered the perfect snack for cross country road trips.

• Clean Plate Charlie introduces Lindemans Pêche Lambic as the beer of the week. You can debate the merits of fruit-flavored beer all you want, but as an after-dinner drink, this one’s pretty darn good.

• Fat City brings tragic news of AMCs renewed ban on outside food and drink. Thankfully there’s still no limit on the amount of self-serve butter you can pump into a tub of popcorn.

• And lastly, another installment of Ask the Bartender takes on the annoying trend of declaring last call half an hour before the bar is going to close. Apparently there are a couple good reasons, but that doesn’t make it any less aggravating.
