Not the piece of cheese in question. |

A court in the Netherlands has determined that McDonald’s overreacted when they fired an employee for adding a piece of cheese to what was paid for as an ordinary hamburger. Obviously cheese does not come standard on a hamburger, so adding a slice (even for a friend/coworker) is tantamount to stealing. The woman was fired back in March of last year, for breaking rules “prohibiting free gifts to family, friends or colleagues.”BBC News is reporting that “McDonald’s was ordered to pay the former employee more than 4,200 euros ($5,900; £3,660) for the last five months of her contract.” and in the court’s decision, the judge stated, “The dismissal was too severe a measure. It is just a slice of cheese.”
