You may not have heard of The West Michigan Whitecaps, but the minor league team is grabbing headlines — not for their on-the-field play, but rather for their new $20 Goliath of a hamburger. The “Fifth Third Burger” (named after Fifth Third Ballpark where the Whitecaps play) features one and two-third pounds of grilled hamburger topped with lettuce, tomato, nacho cheese, chili, salsa and crushed tortilla chips. All of this sits on an 8-inch sesame seed bun and is supposedly designed to feed the entire family. However, we can’t help but feel like this is all an elaborate gimmick to get more overweight fans excited about hobbling up and down the bleachers to grab another snack during the seventh inning stretch.
