Like something right out of a sitcom, the Tokyo Ritz-Carlton is tempting fate by offering diners an opportunity to propose to their girlfriend by putting a diamond in the bottom of a martini glass. Everyone knows this scenario typically leads to hilarity when the diamond is accidentally swallowed, but despite the cliche (and strong possibility for disaster) the hotel is offering an $18,000 martini complete with drink, diamond, and a special rendition of “Diamonds Are Forever.” When you throw in the song, suddenly the price tag doesn’t seem quite so steep.
