Even though I’m basing this almost entirely on the availability of ketchup-flavored potato chips, I’d venture to say Canadians sure do love their ketchup. So, for its Canadian centennial, Heinz decided to celebrate by baking the nation “The Great Canadian Heinz Ketchup Cake.” The cake looks like a cross between a carrot cake and a red velvet cake, and Heinz describes it as “perfectly spiced and delicious.”
If you want to test Heinz’s claim of deliciousness for yourself, the recipe is available on Canada.com via a press release from Heinz. We’re not entirely convinced ketchup cake is a good idea, but as far as novelty goes, it’s certainly scores some points there.
