Ever vigilant in their quest to keep our country safe from shoe bombers, liquids of three liters or more, and fingernail file key chains, the security team at the Ohio airport called in the bomb squad yesterday when luggage screeners were unable to determine the contents of a sealed package. The suspicious package was removed from the airport and detonated to reveal mangoes, the newest security threat to air travel.

Even though it’s clearly a better safe than sorry scenario, it still makes you wonder why they didn’t just listen to the owner of the baggage who was telling them the container had “pickles” in it, and open it up to verify. You’d think that could have saved a decent amount of time and avoided blowing up a perfectly good container of pickled mangoes.
