Metro.co.uk reports Chinese health officials have put a halt to &#8220;a small number of eateries in the southern province of Guangdong and the southwestern city of Chongqing&#8221; that have been serving &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.metro.co.uk\/weird\/article.html?China_cracks_down_on_cock_snake_bite_dish&amp;in_article_id=677244&amp;in_page_id=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chickens which have been bitten to death by poisonous snakes and cooked up for a supposedly detoxing meal.<\/a>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>The practice was being called into question as cruel to animals and &#8220;totally amoral.&#8221; However, no diners have been poisoned as a result of eating the toxin filled chicken, and it would appear the dish is no longer being served.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t    <!--googleoff: all-->\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Image from an online video of a chicken being killed by repeated snake bites.
