?<\/span>A court in the Netherlands has determined that McDonald’s overreacted when they fired an employee for adding a piece of cheese to what was paid for as an ordinary hamburger. Obviously cheese does not come standard on a hamburger, so adding a slice (even for a friend\/coworker) is tantamount to stealing. The woman was fired back in March of last year, for breaking rules “prohibiting free gifts to family, friends or colleagues.” <\/p>\n

BBC News is reporting that “McDonald’s was ordered to pay the former employee more than 4,200 euros ($5,900; \u00a33,660) for the last five months of her contract.<\/a>” and in the court’s decision, the judge stated, “The dismissal was too severe a measure.
