{"id":1321,"date":"2010-01-06T14:56:33","date_gmt":"2010-01-06T14:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dailyfork.com\/controversial_kfc_ad_hardly_se\/"},"modified":"2021-04-22T19:45:38","modified_gmt":"2021-04-22T19:45:38","slug":"controversial_kfc_ad_hardly_se","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyfork.com\/new\/controversial_kfc_ad_hardly_se\/","title":{"rendered":"Controversial KFC Ad Hardly Seems Racist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After hearing about the controversial Australian KFC ad in which a white cricket fan placates a crowd of black West Indian supporters by offering to share a bucket of fried chicken, the only thing more surprising than KFC thinking this wouldn&#8217;t be construed as racist is seeing how actually not racist the commercial is.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that&#8217;s it&#8217;s 2010 and we still can&#8217;t get past the idea that fried chicken is delicious not just to black people, but to everyone, is absolutely mind-boggling. It&#8217;s a frickin&#8217; crowd-pleaser, it&#8217;s a lot of food, and regardless of what team you&#8217;re rooting for, it&#8217;s perfect for watching a game.<\/p>\n<p><center><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/FftZt-Dw_hQ&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en_US&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowScriptAccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/FftZt-Dw_hQ&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en_US&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><\/embed><\/object><\/center><\/p>\n<p>In all honesty, the liberal &#8220;look how tolerant I am&#8221; side of me wanted to be outraged, but as soon as I saw the commercial, it seemed so decidedly unracist that I couldn&#8217;t help but shake my head. If you&#8217;re so hung up on stereotypes that you can&#8217;t watch a 2- second advertisement and separate a ridiculous (and entirely American) racial stereotype from a light-hearted Australian commercial, you&#8217;re probably living in a perpetual state of self-righteous outrage.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re going to get offended by a fast food ad, you should really be up in arms over Taco Bell trying to feed you a line of bullshit about how their <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyfork.com\/2010\/01\/taco_bell_diet_results_not_typ.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fresco menu<\/a> is a legitimate diet option.
