It’s hard not to love No Reservations, but after watching the preview for Anthony Bourdain’s Alternate Universe, a series of cartoon webisodes coming to The Travel Channel in 2010, we’re not quite sure what to think.
Part of us wants to be optimistic that the cartoon could very well feature the same effortlessly cool feel that makes No Reservations one of the best shows on The Travel Channel. However, another part of us is quick to dismiss this as a terrible idea and question whether it isn’t all just one big joke.
We had just assumed that the disastrous fallout from the Emeril sitcom debacle of 2001 would be enough to discourage celebrity chefs from veering too far from the comforts of the kitchen. But, if anyone can find a way to make it work, we’re guessing it’s Anthony Bourdain.
What do you think? Is there any way Alternate Universe could actually be good, or is it a cheap publicity stunt at best?
