While browsing through some sites looking for interesting cocktail recipes I stumbled across the website Girly-Drinks.com, a compilation of drinks falling under exactly the category you’d expect from the site’s name. However, the most recent entry posted was for an Ice Wine Martini, and upon reading through the mixture (which is just a 1 to 1 blend of Ice Wine and Vodka) I couldn’t help but think this cocktail seemed like an expensive way to waste a bottle of Ice Wine. Sure it might be pretty good, but isn’t mixing a bottle of ice wine with vodka kind of on par with taking a well-aged Scotch and coupling it with some Coke. If anyone’s actually tried, or made their own, Ice Wine Martini, I’d love to hear what you thought of it. Was it worth using such an expensive bottle of wine? And, was there any reason you couldn’t fudge the details a little and just use a less expensive late harvest wine instead?
