See’s Candies’ Rocky Road Egg is certainly a beast of an Easter treat. Each one weighs in at 9.5 ounces and offers enough candy for either a family of four or one gluttonous individual. We were lucky enough to have one sent to us about a week ago, and for the last six days it has sat on the shelf taunting us, until finally we just couldn’t take it anymore.

See how it taunts?

Yesterday, with the help of fellow Daily Forker Rebecca Kelley, I finally broke into the Rocky Road Egg, and it was just as glorious as we’d imagined it would be.

As someone who isn’t a huge fan of incredibly dense chocolate (with the possible exception of flourless chocolate cake), the Rocky Road egg was the perfect combination of creamy milk chocolate and marshmallow, with the walnuts lending a nice crunch.

Marshmallows + Chocolate + Nuts = Disgustingly Good

It was a nice “high end” diversion from the usual Easter candy of Peeps, Cadbury Chocolates and the shamefully delicious Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs. Plus, we got to feel downright fancy, eating chocolate that wasn’t bought in a moment of weakness from the grocery store checkout display.

Also, in case you’re wondering, the two of us were able to show a little bit of restraint, and as of right now, there is still half an egg leftover. However, I’m guessing the remaining piece will not be seeing tomorrow’s sunrise.
