After yesterday’s news that Chipotle might be skimping on the meat with their burritos, I kind of thought life couldn’t get much worse. But, then I saw a couple more food items that are apparently now offering smaller portions despite charging consumers the same price. What the hell?
The first culprit is the special Valentine’s Day packaging of M&M;’s, which offers 1.5 fewer ounces of melt in your mouth goodness than the regular packages. And although you might come to expect this sort of cheap ploy from a major corporation, the second offender is far more disturbing. The Girl Scouts of America are reducing the number of cookies in each package, citing rising costs and a poor economy.
This is entirely unacceptable. In a tough economy the Girl Scouts should be working twice as hard to earn my business, not trying to cheat me out of a few extra Thin Mints. It looks like this year I’m going to have to take my business elsewhere, and instead of spending thousands of dollars on Tagalongs and Do-si-dos like I usually do, I might just take a vacation instead. Take that Girl Scouts of America!
Thanks, but no thanks. |
