Does Coffee Save Lives?

Today, the LA Times featured an article discussing recent research into coffee and its impact on the body. It seems some previous studies failed to note the significant overlap between coffee drinkers and smokers, and many negative side effects of smoking were unfairly attributed to coffee. The article even mentions coffee may have some strong positive influences on a person’s health, stating, “Coffee seems to protect the liver against cirrhosis, especially that caused by alcoholism.” We’re interpreting this as a wholehearted endorsement that alcoholics should be drinking coffee on a regular basis, but you might want to read the article yourself just to be sure.
