An article appearing on the food blog No Salad as a Meal discussed the recent trend of fine dining donuts appearing on restaurant menus. It does seem like donuts are popping up at an increasing number of upscale restaurants, but is this really a bad thing? Whether they’re called donuts, beignets, or some other fancy sounding name, it’s still fried dough, and it’s still delicious. And, having the option to enjoy some fried dough and a cup of coffee after a meal is a luxury we’ve been deprived of for far too long. The only people who don’t like donuts are vegans and communists, and since we’re neither, we’re ready to embrace the upscale donut trend. Whether or not it’s real is a different question.
